Japan Launches Nationwide Responsible Gambling Awareness Campaign
As Japan prepares for the opening of its first integrated resorts (IRs), the government has launched a nationwide campaign to promote responsible gambling. The campaign aims to educate the public about the risks associated with gambling and encourage safe practices among players.

The initiative includes TV and online advertisements, community workshops, and partnerships with schools to reach younger audiences. Operators of upcoming IRs are required to implement measures such as entry fees for residents, daily visit limits, and AI-based monitoring systems to identify problem gamblers.
While the campaign has been well-received, critics argue that it may not go far enough to address the risks posed by the introduction of large-scale casinos. Advocacy groups are pushing for stricter regulations and more robust support systems for those affected by gambling addiction.
